Technical Description 

A 19th century spirt decanter in apple green, made by Richardson and Son in c1870.

It has its orgional hollow facet cut stopper above a slice cut rim with an applied ring below. Hexagonal facet cut neck with a further shoulder ring. Star cut base.

Apple green, was one of the rich Richardson colours and this is a stunning example.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration, clean and clear.

Historical Relevance 

Around this time, Benjamin Henry perfects the Henry rifle which was manufactured by the New Haven Arms Company, and used in considerable numbers by certain Union army units in the American Civil War. Confederates called the Henry "that damned Yankee rifle that they load on Sunday and shoot all week!"
