Technical Description
A superb 19th century Claret Jug dating to c1870.
It has a fine engraved silver handle, cap (perfect working order) and base neck ring. The glass neck has notch cutting and bands of cut printies, diamonds and hobnails, the hobnails in blue. Star cut base.

Condition
Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration, clean and clear.

Historical Relevance
Benjamin Henry perfects the Henry rifle which was manufactured by the New Haven Arms Company, and used in considerable numbers by certain Union army units in the American Civil War. Confederates called the Henry "that damned Yankee rifle that they load on Sunday and shoot all week!"
