Technical Description 

A fine 18th-century Scallop cut wine glass dating to c1770.

It has a round funnel bowl engraved with a bee with polished detailing as well as corn flowers and foliage. A scallop cut stem above a conical foot.

Scallop cutting is regarded as early with the facet cut form and this is a particuarily fine example.

England, c1770. Period of George III.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration.

Height: 12.8cm Rim diameter: 5cm, Foot diameter: 6.5cm.

Comments

This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
