Technical Description
A superb Jacobite engraved Balustroid wine glass dating to c1750.
It has a round funnel bowl engraved with a six-petal rose, open bub, closed bud and a kissing star on the reverse (kiss the star to toast the king over the water). Central swelling knop above a conical foot with a snapped pontil.
According to Geoffrey B Seddon, The Jacobites and Their Drinking Glasses (1995), the decoration on this glass may be attributed to Engraver A.
