Technical Description 

Union engraved 19th century glass rummer. The bucket bowl is engraved with a cartouche containing JSJ surrounded by thistles and roses. A two-masted ocean-going paddle steamer has been engraved opposite. An angular knopped stem joins the bowl to the conical foot. The pontil of the glass is rough.

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time the Aaron Manby (The first iron steamship to go to sea) was completed in April 1822.
