Technical Description 

A very elegant Edwardian glass claret jug. Very naturalistic, it has an applied handle with a pulled poring rim. Engraved with very detailed flowers, leaves and ferns. Star cut circular foot. 

You can find other examples of this style and workmanship on page 375 of 'The Decanter An Illustrated History of Glass from 1650 by Andy McConnell....and if you don't have his decanter book(s) then you need to buy a copy....its fantastic.

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time of Golf's 1st recorded hole-in-one, by Tom Morris at Prestwick's 8th hole.
