Technical Description
18th-century wrythen moulded blue glass jug. The rim is folded and has a pulled pouring lip. The body has an applied handle and a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
The heavy lead glass and deep hue are indicative of the origin and period. Hand-blown around the time ‘British Gazette’ (Britain's first Sunday newspaper) began publication, also around the time of the beginning of 'The Fourth Anglo-Dutch War'.
