Technical Description
An exceptional matching pair of Salviati green glass candlesticks dating to around 1900.
The rims of the scone and foot are clear glass with aventurine inclusion. The scone and foot are also rib moulded, the foot being slightly wrythen. Snapped pontil.
The quality of the workmanship, materials used and form would all indicate early Salviato Co.
There are a number of very fine Salviati candlesticks on the market, however, you will seriously struggle to find a pair of Bed Chamber examples.
Historical Relevance
Handcrafted around the time Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom died at age 81 in 1901, after more than 63 years on the throne she was the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom at that time. She has since been surpassed by her great-great-granddaughter Elizabeth II on the 9th of September 2015.
