Technical Description
A 19th-century glass spirit flagon or decanter with its original facet cut stopper. Slice cut neck, applied handle and large scale facet cuts to the body with polished pontil to base. Engraved with fruiting vine to one side with the initial M. Quite a stunning piece and very unusual.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time HMS Warrior, the world's first ocean-going completely iron-hulled and armoured battleship, was launched on the Thames on the 29th of December 1860.
