Technical Description

A very fine example of an 18th century plain stem wine glass. It has a bell bowl with a solid section at the base containing an air tear. Conical folded foot with a snapped pontil.

Air tears when they exist tend to be in the stem rather than the base of the bowl. As of today, we have 72 sold 18th century plain stems wines on the web site...only one of them had a bell bowl...so it's actually a rarer form that you would think.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time Benjamin Franklin invented his Franklin stove.
