A magnificent Silesian Josephinenhutte wine goblet dating to c1900.
It has a deep round funnel bowl with gilding to the rim. The bowl has been engraved with the coat of arms for Wietzendorf (crossed rakes) and has the town name on the opposite side. Solid base with a band of air tears above a Silesian six-sided pedestal stem with notch cutting. Large conical foot with a ladies name and the date 1910.
The Josephinehutte glassworks was founded by Franz Pohl in 1842 and went on to produce outstanding Venetian inspired designs over a 100 years period. This glass was almost certainly a special one-off commissioned piece.
