Technical Description
An 18th century facet cut wine glass with a round funnel bowl above a fine hexagonal facet cut stem. Unusually this glass has a thick foot more often seen on a firing glass. Polished pontil.
Comment
The firing foot is an uncommon feature on a standard-sized wine glass. Its more often found on 18th-century dram glasses. Also, the polished pontil would indicate that the glass is towards the end of the 18th century, the Facet Cut wine being the only 18th-century form where you will occasionally find a polished pontil rather than a snapped rough pontil...there are exceptions but not many.
A fine glass and quite rare.
