Technical Description 

A superb Victorian Sauceboat and original stand from Edward F Bodley & Son dating to between 1881 and 1895 and made at the Scotia Pottery, Burslem in Staffordshire. In the Cretonne pattern showing green leaves and flowers with gold gilt decoration. Superb condition 

Historical Relevance

During July 1880, the French-American Union announces that enough money has been raised to complete the construction of the Statue of Liberty, although further funding will be required to construct the pedestal on which it will sit in New York Harbor.
