Description
An exceptionally rare and stunning hors d'oeuvre Dish designed by Mitzi Solomon Cunliffe for Pilkington's Royal Lancastrian, produced from 1948 to 1957. The asymmetrical moulded earthenware bowl features an eggshell black exterior, white rim and glossy turquoise interior and. Impressed Pilkington's marks to base. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
Mitzi Solomon Cunliffe (January 1, 1918 - December 30, 2006) was an American sculptor. She was most famous for designing the golden trophy in the shape of a theatrical mask that would go on to represent the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and be presented as the BAFTA award. She also designed textiles, ceramics and jewellery.
