Technical Description
A superb 19th-century glass wine carafe. The neck has an applied annulated neck ring and again at the base of the shaft. The globe form has ribbed moulding leading down to a circular foot with a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Charles Goodyear received a patent for vulcanization, a process to strengthen rubber on the 15th of June 1844.
