Technical Description 

One of the rarer pieces of Royal Doulton stoneware produced in 1883 by artists Florence Bowditch and Annie Horton. Hard high-fired stoneware body in blue covered in a matt glaze known as ‘smear’. Beautifully decorated with applied flowers and leaves in geometric bands of blue, yellow, white and black. Full impressed Doulton Lambeth Mark alongside the artist's marks.

A rare example which you will have great difficulty in finding elsewhere.

Historical Relevance 

The eruption of Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait began on the afternoon of Sunday, 26 August 1883
