This artwork represents the concept of rebirth, strength and endurance. Associated with the sun, the ancient Greeks symbolised this idea in the form of a phoenix, a bird that is reborn from its ashes every 500 years. Finding an association between this concept and the human spirit, Veronica has embodied these manifestations in the image of the female figure. This is a reflection on the notion that the human spirit can be turned to ash by the circumstances of life, yet is able to find the strength to endure and to rise from its ashes to live once more.
In life, many of us, if not all, will come across the notion of life’s purpose. Perhaps more accurately, we may question whether or not life has an intrinsic purpose, something that can be found or realised upon reflection. Or is purpose something that we create for ourselves, not a thing at all, but an ethereal idea, one that may only be conceived of within the bounds of the human condition. Read More about Veronica...
