Historical Relevance

Back in the 1970-80's when the Scott Falk collection was put together, restoration may not have been so easily recognised by either dealers or their customers. The "wear line" should only be where the glass touches the surface. In this case, the wear extends inside this line and the outer rim in flatter than would be expected. Its nothing too serious and was probably accepted by Scott at the time. Knopped examples would have been difficult to find and much rarer than they are today prior to the advent of the internet

In a historical context, this glass was made around the time that the Scottish School of Design was founded in Edinburgh on July 27th 1760. It later became the Royal Institution and finally the Royal Scottish Academy.
