Historical Relevance
As part of the Scott Falk collection, back in the 1970s, I would very much doubt that either Scott or the dealer from whom it was purchased, actually knew its origins. Scott almost certainly purchased the glass based on its fine workmanship and engravings and he obviously had a passion for opaque twists. For many years (and even sometimes today) this form is often referred to a 'Witches Ball Holder'...which does sound rather exotic but I'm afraid is completely fanciful. Based on its origin, manufacturing date and bowl size it was almost certainly manufactured as a Schnapps glass. Engraved examples are quite rare, this example is particularly fine.
